Dharmsala ,The Mini Lhasa, the abode of His highness Holy DALAI LAMA, the land of gods is one of the famous mountain destinations. The place is scenic marvel of natural beauty bounded by The Dhauladhar Range and lush green pine forests the place records second highest rainfall in the country. "Dharamshala" means a place where religion is taught and place has two of the famous shaktepeeths or powerpoints of Godess Durga at Chamunda Devi and Brajeshwari temple at Kangra. Apart from this famous trekking route to triund from Dharamsala,The famous Tibetan Monestry, trekkers heavens like Naddi, Talnu, and the Chhota Dal lake.The place is not so expensive and you can find food of any variety and in any price range...so you find that its an economical tourist destination.Winters are a good time to visit as if you are lucky enough can see some snowfall. Trekking at higher ranges ...you can find some good wildlife esp Monal.. the state bird of himachal pradesh.In the near vicinity you can go to Masroor,the famous monolithic rock cut temple which is 45 km from Dharamsala.Also you can visit the Tea gardens in Palampur which is another hill tourism destination.Famous Shiva temple at Baijnath about 85 km from Dharamsala is also a rock temple of medieval ages.For connectivity , there is an airport at GAGGAL 12 km from Dharamsala connected with domestic air services from Delhi and Chandigarh.Nearest rail head is atPathankot 70 Kms from where you can travel in either the toytrain or taxi sevices/tourism buses(VOLVO) or directly by bus from Delhi.There are Good hotels ,of course no 5 star but good luxury hotels by himachal torism, Club mahindra and other local luxury hotels.Trekking facilities are avalable with backpackers at Mcleodgunj.Also a fewplaces of interest are St johns Church in wilderness in mcleod gunj, The war memorial at dharamsala, the Bhagsunag temple on way to triund, the old fort at Kangra and a plethora of other temples and shrines....HAVE A HAPPY TRAVEL TIME
